Bouncing Around

There comes a time
to go to bed
when there’s a rhyme
stuck in my head
that feels it must
be free, though just
somehow not now

Thanks to Susi Bocks at I Write Her for pointing out today, 21 March, is World Poetry Day in her “Celebrate Your Passion” post! I didn’t realize that when I posted my poem above. Why not take the time today to discover new poets, read poetry you love, or write something just because!

  1. Decades ago, I would work things out in my head before committing them to paper because I hated writing rough drafts. Now it serves me quite well, I can remember in the morning what I worked out at midnight.

    1. Thanks. I try not to, but I still get the urge to have to write something after I’ve settled in to sleep. Very frustrating on mornings I have to get up early. 🙂

  2. Love it!! I stopped trying to “call it back” when I’d get a poem-start while sleeping…if it’s gone, I’m not getting up– there will always be another one 🙂

      1. Hahaha…they may well have been great–but if not, a delusion can be a wonderful thing (otherwise, I’d have not lived this long)! 🙂

  3. Sometimes I wake up in the late night coz I feel the poem and then I have to write it down the very moment. Can’t wait for the next morning coz that very moment is now.
