Friendly Façade

What lies beneath
the surface truths
shall bare their teeth
put out their booths
once the hook's set?
No idle threat
beguiles with smiles.

Hey! My daughter Bee has an Etsy site for “Hand sewn decorative items” – RaccoonStitches! Please check it out!

I saw the phrase “what lies beneath” in a lot of posts lately, which made me think it was a prompt, but I can’t find it if it is. So I’ll credit Christine E. Ray’s poem “What Lies Beneath?” on her wonderful site “Brave & Reckless” for being the muse.

  1. It’s a sad scary world–since the Beginning there have been smiles that beguile, hiding bared teeth and hooks. Ah well, at least we have ha’sonnets!! “What Lies Beneath”–I think that’s also a great movie (mystery/thriller). Hope you’re “keeping well”.
