Unknown Unknowns

I was young once
some years ago
A bumbling dunce
who claimed to know
all the answers
Life’s cruel dancers
quickly schooled me

  1. Classic teenage years! When I was a middle school teacher, in the teachers’ lounge someone hung a poster that said, “Teenagers, leave home now while you still know everything.” Great poem, Stephen.

  2. Oh wow, painful for most of us. I am enjoying writing ha’sonnets frequently now–maybe not all are perfect, but the practice is fun 🙂 Oh, and one side note I’ve been forgetting to mention–it’s just silly but, your photo always reminds me of my primary care doctor who is a wonderful man. Through your poetry I’ve found you to be sensitive and caring, like he is 🙂
